CAIRO, EGYPT — Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty announced on Wednesday that Egypt is prepared to serve as a venue for meetings aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. During a press conference in Cairo, Abdelatty mentioned Egypt’s ongoing mediation efforts between Iran and the US, noting the collaboration with Pakistan and Turkey.
Abdelatty emphasized the need for a “win-win situation “in resolving the conflict, advocating for an end to the current zero-sum game approach. He cautioned that the opportunity for negotiation may be waning, urging a direct meeting between US and Iranian representatives. Following the Trump administration’s recent cease-fire proposal, Iran has declined the offer. However, there are indications that Iranian officials may be open to discussions with US negotiators, possibly in Islamabad, Pakistan, within the coming week.
Egypt has signaled its support for the US — led negotiation efforts, positioning itself as a potential mediator in the ongoing Middle Eastern tensions.
