ENUGU, NIGERIA — The Dangote Group has underscored its commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth through a comprehensive expansion plan, aimed at enhancing the country’s industrial landscape and supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Aliko Dangote, the group’s Chairman, made this announcement during the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, which focused on “Empowering MSMEs for Global Competitiveness.”Dangote, represented by Olatunbosun Jinadu, the South East Regional Director of Dangote Cement Plc, detailed the group’s “Vision 2030″strategy.
This strategic initiative is geared towards addressing the challenges faced by MSMEs, such as high energy and raw material costs, and infrastructure deficits. Jinadu emphasized the importance of small businesses in the global economic landscape.
Under the expansion plans, the group is set to increase its petroleum refinery capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance output and efficiency. Additionally, the company is scaling up its fertiliser production to 12 million metric tonnes annually, while expanding its polypropylene plant to cater to rising demand in various industries.
The regional director highlighted the group’s belief in the necessity of local production and industrial self-reliance for Nigeria’s economic transformation. He also commended the Dangote Group for its continued sponsorship of the Enugu International Trade Fair and encouraged the group to consider locating its plants in the Southeast region, a key contributor to the national economy.
