ENUGU, NIGERIA — The Dangote Group has outlined ambitious expansion plans, emphasizing its dedication to fostering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as pivotal to Nigeria’s economic growth. Chairman Aliko Dangote shared this vision during the company’s Special Day at the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, themed “Empowering MSMEs for Global Competitiveness.”In his address, Dangote was represented by Olatunbosun Jinadu, the South East Regional Director of Dangote Cement Plc.
Jinadu highlighted the group’s “Vision 2030″strategy, which aims to alleviate constraints faced by MSMEs, such as high energy, raw material, and infrastructure costs. He emphasized the importance of small businesses in both local and global economies and called for an enabling environment to support their growth.
The group’s expansion includes increasing its petroleum refinery capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day, a move expected to enhance output and efficiency. Additionally, the company is boosting its fertiliser production to 12 million metric tonnes annually and expanding its polypropylene plant to meet surging demand across multiple industries.
Jinadu emphasized that these expansions are rooted in the group’s belief in Nigeria’s economic transformation, emphasizing the need for local production and industrial self-reliance. ECCIMA President Nnayelugo Onyemelukwe commended Dangote for sponsoring the fair for over five years and suggested the group consider establishing plants in the Southeast region, a significant contributor to the national economy.
