The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, scheduled for September 4-6 in Beijing, will bring together African leaders to discuss key issues and forge new partnerships, with bilateral talks also scheduled.
Following talks in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the two countries issued a joint statement, where they urged all parties involved in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to adhere to three principles: preventing the expansion of the conflict, de-escalating hostilities, and refraining from actions that could worsen the situation.
As a result of the talks both presidents also agreed to elevate the partnership between China and South Africa to a “All-Round Strategic Cooperative Partnership in a New Era.”
Ramaphosa will take part in the China-Africa Summit in Beijing on September 4.
