Cameroon Football Federation Suspends President Samuel Eto’o Over Alleged Misbehaviour. Yaoundé, Cameroon — The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has announced the suspension of its president, Samuel Eto’o, for four matches following allegations of misbehaviour during his team’s recent match against Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
According to official statements, FECAFOOT acknowledged the suspension and fine, but expressed concern over the lack of explicit justification for the disciplinary action.
The federation also highlighted the expedited nature of the procedure, noting that it raises concerns about the fairness of the trial process.
The CAF had been investigating match incidents during the quarterfinals between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as between Algeria and Nigeria. While no specific incidents were referenced by the CAF, the widely reported outlier was Eto’o’s gesturing towards Moroccan counterpart Fouzi Lekjaa during the match.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe was also seen seated nearby.
FECAFOOT reaffirmed its support for Eto’o and its commitment to upholding fair disciplinary justice. Officials commented on the matter.
The situation is expected to evolve as further details emerge, and FECAFOOT awaits a clearer explanation from the CAF. Until then, Eto’o will be unable to participate in the remaining matches of the Africa Cup of Nations.
