Casablanca, Morocco — Moroccan authorities have detained a 34-year-old British national at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport. The arrest occurred on Saturday following the discovery of an international arrest warrant issued by Belgian judicial services. The warrant was triggered by Belgian authorities’belief that the man is involved in a criminal network specializing in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The suspect was intercepted by national police officers as he was about to board a flight to Dubai. Routine checks against the national police database revealed the warrant, leading to his immediate detention. The suspect is currently under extradition procedures, supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office.
In coordination with the Belgian authorities, Morocco’s Central Bureau of National Judicial Police and the Interpol office in Rabat have been instrumental in managing the extradition process. This case is part of the ongoing judicial cooperation between Morocco and international partners to combat cross-border criminal activities. The airport, a key transit hub, plays a crucial role in monitoring and detaining individuals sought by international law enforcement agencies.
