The 36-year-old boxer sustained minor injuries when the Lexus SUV he was travelling in collided with a stationary truck near Lagos on 29 December.
Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Latif Ayodele, a trainer, died in the incident. Joshua was discharged from hospital on 31 December and returned to the UK by 3 January, according to local reports.
The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid licence.
He is scheduled to appear in court on 20 January.
The accident occurred on the Lagos — Ibadan expressway, a major route in southwest Nigeria. Federal Road Safety Corps officials stated the truck was parked without warning signs.
The driver lost control after a tyre burst, according to police sources. Joshua had been in Nigeria following his victory over Jake Paul in Miami on 19 December.
The boxer, who has Nigerian heritage, frequently visits the country where he supports grassroots boxing initiatives.
Funeral services for Ghami and Ayodele are planned for Sunday at a London mosque. Further details about Joshua’s recovery timeline remain undisclosed.
