Between 11 January and 2 April 2026, an estimated 28,020 individuals, including 5,609 households, were displaced from various locations in Blue Nile state, Sudan. This figure represents an 18 per cent increase from the 23,735 internally displaced persons (IDPs) recorded on 25 March 2026.
The displaced individuals came from across Baw (13,130 IDPs), Al Kurmuk (10,310 IDPs), and Geisan (4,580 IDPs) localities. They were subsequently displaced to six different localities within Blue Nile state: Baw (9,940 IDPs), Ed Damazine (12,895 IDPs), Ar Rusayris (3,290 IDPs), Geisan (1,405 IDPs), At Tadamon (200 IDPs), and Wad Al Mahi (290 IDPs).
The majority of the newly displaced individuals sought shelter at informal gathering sites (87%), with a smaller number hosted in schools and other public buildings (9%) and in host families (5%).
