Lagos, Nigeria — December 30, 2025 Anthony Joshua Hospitalised After Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria. British boxing legend and two-time former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is currently hospitalised following a tragic car accident in Nigeria.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning along the Lagos — Ibadan Expressway, resulted in the death of two of Joshua’s close associates, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
The crash took place when Joshua’s Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck during an overtaking manoeuvre, according to preliminary findings by the Federal Road Safety Corps. Footage from the scene showed Joshua in pain as he was extracted from the wreckage. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom Boxing representative, confirmed that the boxer sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for checks, where he remains under observation.
The statement also identified the two victims as close friends and team members of Joshua. Authorities in Lagos and Ogun states, where the crash occurred, have reported that Joshua and another injured person are in stable condition and do not require emergency medical intervention.
The Ogun State Police are ongoing with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Nigeria, the homeland of Joshua’s parents, has been rocked by the news of the accident.
