LIBREVILLE, Gabon (AGP) — The Gabonese national football team suffered a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Uzbekistan in their opening fixture of the FIFA Series 2026. The match took place in Libreville on Friday.

Under the guidance of interim coach Anicet Yala, Gabon initially led the game with a goal from T. Averlant in the sixth minute. However, Uzbekistan responded swiftly, leveling the score with E.
Shomurodov’s goal in the 14th minute. The hosts were further behind as J. Urozov scored in the 59th minute, and O.
Shukurov sealed the victory with a goal in stoppage time.
Gabon will now face Trinidad and Tobago in their next match on March 30 within the tournament.
