Paris Energy Forum to Focus on Africa’s Emerging LNG Industry. Paris, France — The Invest in African Energy Forum (April 22-23, 2026) is set to bring Africa’s most significant liquefied natural gas (LNG) expansions and monetization strategies into the global spotlight, according to confirmed participants. This event is timed to coincide with the continent’s LNG sector entering a new phase of growth, marked by major export projects moving into expansion and new discoveries advancing toward commercialization.
The forum will see the participation of governments and operators from across Africa’s gas frontier. Key projects include the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim expansion in Mauritania and Senegal, Nigeria’s gas monetization strategy, and Libya’s efforts to boost gas production.
Additionally, the Congo LNG development in the Republic of Congo is set to become a major new LNG exporter.
The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim Phase 2 expansion aims to double the liquefaction capacity by leveraging existing floating LNG infrastructure. Senegal’s Yakaar-Teranga gas discovery is among the continent’s most significant pre-FID (Final Investment Decision) opportunities, with the potential to support future LNG trains and long-term gas-to-power supply. Nigeria is targeting an additional 1.
8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of gas supply by 2026, with ambitions to reach 10 bcf/d by 2027 and 12 bcf/d by 2030.
The country is also accelerating the rollout of mini — LNG and small-scale liquefaction projects to expand gas access for off-grid industries and transport. Libya is working to increase gas production to nearly one billion cubic feet per day in the second half of 2026.
If financing conditions and political alignment continue to improve, the country could re — emerge as a major Mediterranean gas supplier later this decade.
The Congo LNG development, which began Phase 2 operations in December 2025, is expected to add 2. 4 million tons per year of capacity.
The project’s modular structure and expansion-ready design offer opportunities across the LNG value chain.
The Invest in African Energy Forum is expected to provide a platform for investors and project partners to explore Africa’s next wave of LNG and gas opportunities, shaping the flow of capital and infrastructure investments across the continent. Further details are expected as the event approaches.
