In a significant move to bolster security cooperation, Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdelatif Hammouchi, welcomed Poland’s Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Tomasz Siemoniak, on Thursday. Siemoniak, leading a high-level delegation that included the Polish Ambassador to Morocco, engaged in discussions aimed at reinforcing the partnership between the two nations. The meeting took place in Rabat and focused on expanding areas of collaboration, including illegal migration management, border security, and operational exchanges in the fight against organized crime and terrorism.
The talks, which were a testament to the shared commitment to security between Morocco and Poland, delved into a range of issues of mutual interest. Among these were enhancing information sharing and coordination in the realms of border protection and combating transnational threats. The officials also explored the potential for technical assistance and the exchange of expertise in scientific and technical police matters.
A particular emphasis was placed on the global and African terrorist threats, with both sides discussing the challenges and risks associated with these issues. The conversation highlighted the importance of cooperation in the Sahel, Sahara, and Horn of Africa regions, where terrorist organizations are active and threaten global security.
Polish security authorities expressed the value of their partnership with Morocco, noting the country’s status as a trusted and pivotal ally in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. In a bid to deepen this collaboration, the two officials agreed to arrange a visit to Morocco by Poland’s head of internal security. This upcoming visit is intended to lay the groundwork for an institutional framework that will formalize and structure the security partnership between the two countries.
The high — level meeting also served as a platform to showcase the various South-South and regional cooperation initiatives spearheaded by Morocco under King Mohammed VI’s leadership. These efforts have positioned Morocco as a driving force for stability, progress, and peace within the Euro-African region. The dialogue underscored both nations’resolve to reinforce their security collaboration, opening avenues for further development that are poised to positively influence the security landscape for both Morocco and Poland.
