Paris, France — TotalEnergies’Senior Vice President for Africa, Mike Sangster, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Invest in African Energy (IAE) Forum, taking place from April 22 to 23 in Paris. The forum will serve as a platform for TotalEnergies to showcase its extensive pipeline of energy projects across the African continent.
Africa plays a crucial role in TotalEnergies’global strategy, representing approximately half of its operated production and a significant portion of its exploration budget. The company’s current investments are expected to drive a new wave of project execution and investment decisions, which are anticipated to shape its output through 2026 and beyond.
In the Republic of Congo, TotalEnergies has allocated $500 million for the expansion of the Moho Nord field, targeting an additional 40,000 barrels per day of production. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance the country’s energy output, with the field already contributing around half of the national production.
In East Africa, the Tilenga project in Uganda is advancing towards its first oil production, facilitated by the 1,443-km East African Crude Oil Pipeline, which connects to Tanzania’s port of Tanga. Concurrently, TotalEnergies is progressing the restart of its $20 billion LNG project in Mozambique, which aims to unlock one of Africa’s largest gas reserves and drive substantial production growth.
These projects are poised to reverse earlier declines in output, with TotalEnergies’African production expected to recover by 2026. The company’s African portfolio also includes frontier assets such as the Venus discovery in Namibia, where a final investment decision is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026. In South Africa, TotalEnergies is preparing to drill offshore Block 3B/4B, as exploration activities in the region accelerate.
TotalEnergies’strategy encompasses not only oil developments but also gas monetization, with ongoing LNG and domestic gas projects. The company maintains zero routine flaring across its Nigerian, Gabonese, and Angolan operations. Additionally, TotalEnergies is investing in renewable energy and power, including solar projects in Southern and North Africa and hydropower in Uganda.
Sangster’s participation at the IAE Forum highlights TotalEnergies’commitment to managing its active project pipeline in Africa. The forum, designed to connect African energy markets with global investors, is a pivotal event for deal-making and collaboration in the lead-up to African Energy Week.
