LIBREVILLE, 7 avril 2027 (AGP) – Gabon’s Minister of Water and Forests, Maurice Ntossui Allogho, has emphasized the need for the country to align with international environmental and social management standards. Speaking at a national workshop in Libreville, the event aimed to validate Gabon’s environmental and social assessment report, the minister highlighted the importance of addressing the country’s strengths and weaknesses in these areas.
Organized by the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the African Development Bank (ADB), the workshop sought to improve living conditions by fostering state and partner collaboration. The workshop identified key priorities such as enhancing working conditions, sustainable resource management, and protecting vulnerable groups.
The Integrated Safeguard System (SSI), a mechanism introduced by the ADB, has been instrumental in integrating environmental and social standards into public operations. This system, revised between 2023 and 2024, is expected to guide Gabon’s environmental and social management practices and support sustainable growth.
