LECONI, Gabon, April 3, 2026 – In the Haut-Ogooué province of southeastern Gabon, gendarmes from the Léconi brigade have detained a 24-year-old Gabonese man, Davin Ulrich Lekalaga, after discovering a sack containing approximately sixty kilograms of compressed cannabis. The seizure indicates a significant level of illicit activities in the region, according to the Gabonese Press Agency.
Lekalaga was initially taken into custody and then presented to judicial authorities. He has since been placed under pre-trial detention and transferred to the central prison in Yéné, Franceville, where he awaits his trial.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in the Haut — Ogooué province, where authorities continue to combat the proliferation of illegal activities.
