The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports that the Cameroon Red Cross Society has received CHF 549,807 from the IFRC Disaster Response Emergency Fund to implement anticipatory actions aimed at reducing the impact of cholera outbreaks in the country.
The Early Action Protocol (EAP), which combines climate-related triggers affecting water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure with epidemiological triggers based on community-based surveillance and Ministry of Health data, has been the focus of these efforts. During the reporting period, the Cameroon Red Cross Society trained volunteers and pre-positioned WASH and communication materials, as outlined in the plan. Regular coordination meetings with the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Water and Environment, and humanitarian partners have been instrumental in developing the National Cholera Control Plan.
No major changes were observed in the EAP trigger model or target areas during the reporting period.
