Dakar, Senegal — The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Organising Committee (YOGOC) has announced Khaby Lame as an official ambassador for the upcoming event, scheduled to take place from 31 October to 13 November 2026. The Italian-Senegalese influencer, who has amassed a following of hundreds of millions on social media, joins a distinguished group of ambassadors including actors Omar Sy and Kalidou Koulibaly, and athlete Eva Neymar.
Lame, who was officially appointed on 26 March 2026 in Dakar, expressed his enthusiasm for the role, emphasizing his dedication to supporting young African talent across various domains. “This commitment reflects my desire to support young African talent, both in sport and beyond, “he. Lame’s involvement in the YOGOC aims to amplify the Games’message of resilience and potential, showcasing Africa’s capabilities to a global audience.
As part of his duties, Lame will actively engage with young audiences, participating in key events such as the YOG Torch Tour across Senegal. His influence will be instrumental in enhancing the social and inclusive impact of the Games, particularly in areas like Mbacké, his hometown.
The Dakar 2026 YOG, the first Olympic sporting event to be held in Africa, is set to gather around 2,700 young athletes aged up to 17 from around the world across three host zones: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. The YOGOC, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, is committed to ensuring a lasting legacy for Senegal and the entire African continent.
