Rabat, Morocco — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has commended Morocco for its unwavering commitment to hosting major football competitions on the continent. Speaking during a press conference on Sunday, Motsepe highlighted the nation’s role in African football, particularly its readiness to organize tournaments such as the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. Morocco’s hosting prowess has been consistent, marking a trend of major events being organized in the country.
Motsepe emphasized Morocco’s unique position among CAF member nations when it comes to hosting bids. “When we open the door for countries to apply, it is open to everyone, “he noted. “But in many cases, Morocco is the only country that submits a bid.”.
This solitary bid often arises from Morocco, especially for competitions that may not yield significant financial returns. “These are not always profitable competitions, “Motsepe stated. “Organizing them can cost money.
But Morocco still steps forward.”The CAF president also discussed the need for balance in hosting across various African regions. While he supports opportunities for different regions, he acknowledges the necessity of proceeding with a single bid when it is received. “.
I support giving opportunities to different regions, “Motsepe. “But when we receive only one bid, we have to move forward with it.”This reflects Morocco’s continued leadership in hosting tournaments, a trend that aligns with African football’s efforts to expand and strengthen competitions at various levels.
Morocco’s dedication to hosting football events has been recognized by the CAF president, showcasing the nation’s role in the development of African football.
