MALABO, Equatorial Guinea — The 11th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of States of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (OEACPS) concluded on March 28, 2026, in Malabo. The summit, which marked the organization’s 50th anniversary, saw Morocco, as guest of honor, take a prominent role in discussions.
Representing King Mohammed VI, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita emphasized a strategic vision focused on a strengthened African presence and balanced partnerships. This approach, characterized as “consistent and irreversible, “prioritizes practical cooperation aimed at development.
Since 1999, Morocco has signed over 1,600 cooperation agreements and provided educational opportunities for thousands of students from member countries. In agriculture, the Kingdom has contributed to food security in Africa by providing fertilizers to several countries.
Morocco has also shown its commitment to regional integration through significant projects, including the Africa — Atlantic pipeline and an initiative to improve access to the Atlantic Ocean for Sahel countries. These projects underscore the nation’s dedication to sustainable infrastructure for cooperation and economic sovereignty.
In a shifting global landscape, Rabat called for a reinvigorated OEACPS that can represent the South’s interests on key international issues, such as economic governance and climate change. Morocco’s participation in the summit reiterates its commitment to a more balanced international order with equal partnerships, as the organization’s presidency transferred from Angola to Equatorial Guinea.
