The appointment comes in response to an assessment of the political and security situation in South West Somalia, as well as recommendations from traditional elders in Waajid district.
The circular, dated March 24, 2026, outlines the new administration’s responsibilities, directing the appointed officials to immediately assume their duties. These duties include managing public services and social affairs in the district effectively. Traditional elders and all stakeholders are called upon to support the new administration to ensure stability, governance, and development in Waajid district.
The appointment was signed by the Acting Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali — Hosh, and took effect immediately upon his signature.
According to the government, this move aims to strengthen local governance and enhance the provision of public services in the area.
