Somalia, Turkey Wrap Up Audit Training in Ankara. Ankara, Turkey — Somali and Turkish audit institutions have concluded a week-long financial audit training course intended to sharpen Somalia’s public-sector oversight capabilities, according to official statements released after Friday’s closing ceremony. Local reports say the programme brought together auditors from both countries in the Turkish capital, where participants studied modern audit techniques, risk assessment methods and reporting standards.
At the closing event, the President of the Turkish Court of Audidents, two of his deputies, and a senior representative of Turkey’s state aid agency TİKA met with Somalia’s Deputy Auditor General, Abdijamal Ismail, and his delegation. During parallel talks, the two sides agreed to expand technical exchanges beyond the classroom. TİKA officials reaffirmed a pledge to keep funding advisory missions and equipment support for Mogadishu’s supreme audit body, while Somali delegates requested follow-up courses focused on specialised audits of public contracts and state-owned enterprises.
Certificates were awarded to the Somali auditors on completion of the modules.
A brief communiqué from the Somali embassy in Ankara said the training “underpins broader efforts to strengthen financial transparency and accountability” in Somalia, but did not specify how many officials took part or when the next cooperation activity might occur. Further details are expected once both capitals formalise a new technical-cooperation roadmap.
