Ethiopia‘s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and Djibouti’s Security Documentation Service made an agreement on forming a joint task force to combat “anti-peace forces” at their border, including deploying forces and extraditing criminals, according to the NISS’ press release. They will also enhance information sharing to curb these threats.

To further strengthen security and intelligence cooperation, Ethiopia’s intelligence chief met with Djiboutian officials to discuss mitigating mutual threats and fostering regional stability.

The parties agreed to cooperate more closely to combat cross-border crimes such as human and weapons trafficking and illegal immigration, as well as address security concerns related to Ethiopia’s trade through the port of Djibouti.
