The government of Côte d’Ivoire has announced the discovery of a world-class gold deposit in Doropo, located in the northeastern Bounkani region, estimated at over 100 tonnes of gold.
The announcement was made by Resolute Mining, an Australian-based company, during an official meeting with Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé on Monday.
Resolute Mining revealed plans to invest $510 million in the construction of the mine, with an additional $204 million earmarked for gold exploration activities across Côte d’Ivoire.
According to project details, construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, and mining operations are expected to commence in 2028. The mine is projected to operate for more than 20 years, generating over 3,000 jobs and contributing significantly to the country’s mining sector and economy.
The discovery underscores Côte d’Ivoire’s rising profile as a leading gold producer in West Africa.
